PROFILE

​

Me Roy studied at the University of Sherbrooke and has been a member of the Bar since 1980. She is an emeritus lawyer (Ad. E.) and Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers (FACTL).

 

She was involved in several mega trials, the very first of which took place in Quebec. Her practice has also led her to work in several Canadian provinces. Having developed her expertise in long-term cases, Me Roy has pleaded many times before a jury and worked on several murder cases.

Me Roy’s practice is characterized by the particular attention she pays to each client. She also takes on fewer clients in order to devote her time and energy to taking care of each one fully. Me Roy spends many hours on each case to be able to defend to the best of her knowledge and always with great creativity each of the individuals that her profession leads her to meet.

Me Roy also has an impressive involvement on the legal scene:

​

• President of the AADM (Association of Defense Lawyers of Montreal-Laval-Longueuil) between 2013 and 2019

• Vice-president of AQAAD (Quebec Association of Defense Lawyers) between 2016 and 2019

• Member of the board of directors of the CCJM (Montreal community legal center) between 2003 and 2020

• Vice-president of the CCJM (Montreal legal community center) from 2010 to 2017

• Member of the criminal justice committee of the Barreau du Québec since 2016

• Member of the Justice Table on delays in criminal matters

 

In addition to her involvement in these various organizations, Me Roy was a speaker for the Bar of Montreal, for the Bar of Quebec, for the AADM as well as for The Federation of Law Societies for five years.

She has also taught criminal law at the University of Montreal and is regularly invited by several media to comment on legal news since 1995.
