PROFILE

 

Me Lucie Joncas has worked in private practice for 25 years in the areas of criminal, penal and health law. She has appeared before all judicial authorities in Quebec and Ontario as well as before the Supreme Court of Canada. She has also acquired significant experience in jury trials, complex and long cases.

 

Me Joncas represents individuals, companies and associations in connection with criminal or penal proceedings of all kinds. In 2017, she served as chief prosecutor at the Commission on the Protection of Journalistic Sources. She had previously been appointed ad hoc prosecutor at the dpcp as part of an independent investigation.

 

In the past, she served as president of the Canadian Association of Elizabeth Fry Societies and was president of the Quebec Association of Defense Lawyers (AQAAD). She has served on the Canadian Council of Defense Lawyers since 2005 and has been involved in several committees of the Quebec Bar including the Justice and Mental Health Committee and the Criminal Law Committee.

 

She has participated in the mentoring program of the Bar of Montreal for more than ten years, being paired with young lawyers working in criminal law.

Me Joncas has given several conferences in Canada and abroad in the field of mental health and criminal law. She also taught at the École du Barreau du Québec in Montreal for more than 10 years.
